Scientific Research

ASK has systematically characterized 100% of the part of the Mesoamerican Reef System that belongs to México. Studies are carried out to evaluate the health of the reef and to point out areas that are vulnerable to contamination and exploitation. Due to the importance that certain species of commercial fish have in the economy of the state, research has been carried out to define the areas were groupers, snappers and mahi mahis are found. In alliance with Global Vision International, the reefs in Sian Ka’an, Mahahual and other 9 are being monitored daily. It is because of this constant work that ASK has been able to build an important database to evaluate the health of the reefs.

Environmental Education

ASK has made its priority to raise awareness through education, which is why they have published a number of information on marine conservation through different media channels. This information targets all audiences; it ranges from basic information for children and teenagers to scientific published articles. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT OUR ARTICLES>>> Nowadays, environmental conservation and alert system for prevention courses are given to those who benefit directly from fishing like fishing cooperatives and small businesses that offer recreational aquatic services in the touristic cities of Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
